UEFA Cup 2011/2012 Matches and Results Summary The UEFA Futsal Cup comprises three group stages and a four-team final tournament. The Premliminary round was played Aug 13-21
The UEFA Futsal Cup comprises three group stages and a four-team final tournament. Preliminary round Aug 13-21 Depending on the number of entrants, the lower-ranked nations are drawn into three or four-team mini-tournaments played at the start of the season. Each mini-tournament is staged by one of the clubs and each team plays each other once with the group winners progressing. Main round 24 Sep - Oct 2 The preliminary round winners join all but the four highest-ranked entrants excused the previous stage. They are drawn into six groups of four, staged as one-venue mini-tournaments, with the top two teams going through. Elite round Nov 12-20 The 12 teams progressing from the main round join the four top seeds and are drawn into four groups of four teams. The winners of the one-venue mini-tournaments in late autumn progress to the finals. Finals April 2012 The four-team finals are held over a weekend in late April and hosted by one of the qualifiers. The tournament is played as a knockout with the semi-finals followed two days later by the final and third-place play-off. If the third-place match is level after 40 minutes it goes straight to penalties, in the other games ten minutes of extra time will be played. In the main round, which runs from 24 September to 2 October, Eindhoven will be in Group 1 alongside 2007 winners MFK Dinamo Moskva, Greek competition regulars Athina '90 and Slovenian hosts FC Litija. The other teams who progressed from the preliminary round were FS Ilves Tampere, FC Geneva, KMF Leotar Trebinje, Vegakameratene, ETO FC Györ and AC Omonia. The top two from each of the six groups will advance to the elite round to join the highest four seeds: holders ASD Città di Montesilvano C/5, 2011 runners-up Sporting Clube de Portugal and the last two bronze-medallists, Kairat Almaty and Araz Naxçivan. The four elite round group winners after the mini-tournaments, drawn on 11 October and played from 12 to 20 November, will compete in the finals next April.
